  • St. Joseph’s School Food Scavenger Hunt for the Salvation Army

St. Joseph’s School Food Scavenger Hunt for the Salvation Army

The Salvation Army’s food pantry is at an all-time low and is in dire need of many food and personal hygiene items. As a Service Project for September, our school will be doing a Family Scavenger Hunt for Food.

Each family with two or more children is asked to pick at least 7 items from the suggested list. A family with one child is asked to pick at least 3 items. You may collect them from family members, neighbors or donate them yourself. Place the items in a bag and staple the family’s name to the bag. Return the bag to school by Tuesday, September 19th, where there will be collection bins in the hallway.

The class that has the highest percentage of participation will help load the donations to be taken to the Salvation Army and have their class picture taken.

The Salvation Army Food Pantry is currently out of:

    · Pasta, spaghetti sauce, rice and razors

    They desperately need:

    · Soups of any kind, canned meats, vegetables (corn, green beans, peas, mixed vegetables), canned fruit, hot cereals, cold cereals (but not Cheerios)

    · Baking supplies: small bags of sugar, flour, and salt

    · Personal hygiene items: shampoo, body soap/wash, toothpaste, deodorant, toilet paper

Any items that you choose to donate are deeply appreciated!

  • SCRIP! Fundraising & Service Hours

St. Joseph's School and Church both participate in the Great Lakes SCRIP program! SCRIP is fundraising while you shop. Here’s how it works: a family will buy a SCRIP gift card through St. Joseph's School SCRIP program. They'll pay the full face value, but they’ll earn an immediate rebate percentage that's typically between 3% and 15% depending on the retailer. Then they use that gift card on their normal purchases. You're not spending extra money, and there’s no selling involved— you're just earning for your school!

On hand SCRIP can be purchsed in the school office on Thursdays or after both Saturday and Sunday Masses. National SCRIP and special orders will be ordered on Mondays and will be available for pickup on Thursdays in the school office or after Mass on the weekends.

SCRIP is a great way to earn service hours! For every $25 earned for the school, that family will receive a service hour! Example: If you purchase $500 in Cashwise SCRIP at 5% profit, you will have earned one service hour. It's that easy! If you have questions, please feel free to call Lacey at the school at 701-572-6384.
