By Mrs. Julie Quamme, Principal

December is underway and we have lots going on at St. Joseph's! May God bless each of you during this season of Advent as we prepare our hearts for the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Advent Prayer Services will begin on Monday, December 4, at 8:30 a.m. in the church and will continue each Monday through the Advent season. Parents & grandparents are always welcome to join us!

This year’s Advent project is for the Family Crisis Shelter. They have built a beautiful new facility and are in need of many items from Children's Tylenol to diapers to paper products to twin sheets for the new beds.  There is a cardboard house in the hallway where your child may place their donation. (Check the house for a complete list of suggested donations.) Items will be collected until Dec. 19th.  Thank you for helping with this important project!

St. Nicholas' Day is observed on December 6. To celebrate this great saint, students are asked to bring new or gently used toys or money to leave on their desks for St. Nicholas to collect for needy children. The items must be brought to school by December 5th. St. Nicholas typically leaves behind a gold coin for the students who help him by bringing a toy!

Beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 5th, the Student Council will be selling candy canes for $.50 each as a fundraiser for the Family Crisis Shelter.  Orders will be taken on Dec. 5th & Dec. 12th in the gym until 8:15 a.m.  Students can purchase for themselves or friends, siblings, and prayer partners to be delivered on Monday, Dec. 18th.

Mark your calendars!  The St. Joseph's Christmas program will be held on Wednesday, December 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the school gymnasium.  Plan to come and enjoy the many talents of our students, grades 1-6, as we celebrate the Christmas season!  More information will be sent home as we approach the day of the program.  Please contact Miss Helm with any questions.

World's Finest Chocolate Sales is currently underway.  Thank you for all of your efforts so far!  All money and/or unsold candy should be turned in to the school office by Friday, December 8th.

If you shop on-line with Amazon there is a way to help our school and church. It is through a program called AmazonSmile. AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support our school every time you shop, and there is no additional cost to you. When you shop at it is the same as shopping at Amazon. Our charitable donation is listed as Church of St. Joseph’s Williston. A percentage of your purchase is donated back to us. If you have any questions on how to get started please call the school office.

St. Joseph’s has a current opening for an assistant for the Afterschool Program. The hours are M-F from 2:30 – 5:45. If you are interested please contact Julie Quamme (701-572-6384) for more information.

Please contact me or a school board representative if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns regarding our school.   We have many wonderful things happening at our school but there is always room for improvement.   St. Joseph’s School Board representatives are President Aaron Schmit, Ryan Senderhauf, Kelly Thome, Kari Rustand, Abbey Dahlberg, and Crystal Branham.  My door is always open and the coffee is always on!  Stop by for a visit or a tour of our wonderful school!!
