Blessed Lent

February 08, 2018
By Mrs. Julie Quamme
Thank you to all who donated to our Race For Education!  The race was held on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the Williston ARC, and all students did a fantastic job!  Students were given a bracelet for each lap completed, and all were treated to ice cream in the gym following the race.  Following are the winners for each class:
  • Kindergarten - Adam N. - 23 laps
  • 1st grade - Asher Z. & Chay E. - 20 laps
  • 2nd grade - Levi L., Brennan D., & Anton H. - 20 laps
  • 3rd grade - Sulley K. - 32 laps
  • 4th grade - Jacen R. - 28 laps
  • 5th grade - Bode E. - 27 laps
  • 6th grade - Michael H. & Shaun B. - 21 laps

The Race For Education is our PTO's biggest fundraiser each year.  Last year our school raised $23,000 for gym renovations.  This year money raised will be used to finish the gym renovations and complete other school improvements.  Stay tuned for updates as we try to reach our goal of $25,000!  We are still accepting donations!

We had a great time celebrating National Catholic Schools Week last week!  The theme this year was "Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed".  Students collected food for the Salvation Army and made cards for residents of Bethel Home.  We had lots of fun on Thursday in the jumping castles and on Friday enjoyed game stations and treats throughout the afternoon.

In preparation for Lent all students in grades 1 through 6 will celebrate Mass on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 12:10.  All are invited to join us!  St. Joseph's observes a Lenten fast on Fridays, and our hot lunch program will abstain from serving meat during Lent.

St. Joseph's has teacher openings for the 2018-2019 school year.  We are looking for passionate teachers wanting to teach in a fatih-based environment amidst a community with exciting growth and development.   St. Joseph's offers an excellent benefit package including a retirement plan, health, life, and disability insurance, comparable starting salary, and a positive work environment!  To inquire, please contact me or send resume to

Please be reminded that there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, Feb. 16, as the St. Joseph's staff will be attending a training for lockdown and intruder procedures.  We will also be closed Monday, Feb. 19 in observance of Presidents' Day.

Enrollment is now open to the public.  If you haven't already reenrolled your child for next school year, please do so as spots are filling quickly!

The Gospel of Mark tells us that the very first words spoken to us by Jesus were, "The Kingdom of God is at hand.  Repent and believe in the Gospel."  What better way to spend this Lenten season than to meditate on the profound implication of those words.
